My name is Rosemarie Barciz (pronounced bart’see), and after careful thought and
consideration, I have decided to run for Maumee City Council in the upcoming recall election.

A little about me:

I am a fiscal conservative, a former president of the League of Women Voters, and currently
serve on the Executive Committee of the Citizens of Maumee Action Committee (CMAC). I
moved to Maumee in 1979 to attend the University of Toledo College of Law and graduated in
1982. Now semi-retired, I remain a licensed attorney in good standing with the Ohio Bar and
continue to do pro bono legal work.

My involvement in city politics began in July 2021 when Council unanimously passed an
ordinance—proposed by Mr. Burtch—imposing a minimum monthly charge for 7,500 gallons
of water/sewer usage, regardless of actual usage. (Council members Noonan, Barrow, and
McDonald supported this.) This was eventually pulled back to what it is today.

If elected, I pledge to:
1. Bring a positive, forward-thinking attitude to council.
2. Come prepared to every meeting, abstaining or voting no if adequate information is not
provided.

3. End the misuse and abuse of emergency ordinances to bypass public discussion.
4. Truly listen to all perspectives, encouraging respectful dialogue.
5. Ensure that public records and citizen inquiries are answered promptly and thoroughly.
